In a letter to the OSU board of trustees, Robert Dampf, chair of the LSU board of supervisors, claimed Alexander had misled them on a number of fronts. Since last week’s meeting, the Faculty Senate voted in favor of a motion calling for Alexander’s resignation. The trustees appointed OSU Provost Edward Feser as interim president. Miles was accused of kissing an LSU student, sending textual content messages to feminine students, and taking some of them to his off-campus rental alone.

The OSU board of trustees met and accepted his resignation Tuesday. Alexander served as the tenth president of Murray State University in Kentucky from 2001 to 2005, his predecessor being his father Kern Alexander. Murray State’s faculty senate passed a resolution condemning the closed process behind his appointment by the college’s board of regents, which had named itself as the search committee. As president, Alexander improved the connection between faculty and the administration and oversaw the development or renovation of several campus buildings, including the Susan E. Bauernfeind Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
His father, Kern Alexander, is Professor of Excellence on the University of Illinois.
